WITNESS Plea After Teenager Attacked

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was seriously assaulted in Greenock town centre.

A 17-year-old male was attacked in the Westburn Street and Nicolson Street area between 8pm and 10.50pm on Saturday.

He made his own way to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment to his injuries and was later discharged.

Police are looking to speak to four male youths seen in the area at the time.

Detective Constable Ruth Elder said: “We are asking anyone who saw what happened or knows the group involved to get in touch.

“We are particularly keen to trace the group of youths seen at the time of the assault.”
