WORK on a development of new flats in Port Glasgow is due to start early next year.
Planning permission was given two years ago for a four-storey block of 24 one and two-bed flats at Bay Street, beside the A-listed Gourock Ropeworks.
The development for Sanctuary Scotland will provide amenity housing for older people.
Inverclyde’s proposed Strategic Housing Investment Plan for the next five years states: “The town centre location of the Bay Street site and favourable topography lends itself to older people’s housing provision.
“Site start is expected in the early months of 2025, with an anticipated completion in 2026/2027.”
