SWIMMING: Medal Success For Port Glasgow Otters

TEN members of Port Glasgow Otters swim team took part in the Clyde Valley Beavers annual gala at Wishaw.

It was a challenging competition with 17 teams competing in 97 events. At the end of a fantastic day of swimming the team returned with a super tally of 27 medals — six gold, five silver and 16 bronze as well as several new personal best times.

It was a special day for the Otters as one of their younger swimmers, Max McCorkindale, was competed in his first competition. He swam in the 25m beginners’ race and was triumphant, winning his first medal.

Kyle Brotherton won two silver medals, in the 75m individual medley (IM), (class 3) and 25m butterfly (class 4), and a bronze in the 25m breaststroke (class 7).

Eve Cushnaghan won a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke (class 4), silver in the 50m backstroke (class 3) and three bronze, in the 75m IM (class 2), 25m butterfly (class 3) and 400m freestyle (open).

Isaac Dunning won two gold medals, in the 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke (both class 2), silver in the 100m IM (open) and bronze in the 50m backstroke (class 1).

Richard Browning won a gold medal in the 400m freestyle (open) and bronze in the 100m IM (class open).

Aimee Philips won a full set: gold in the 25m breaststroke (class 9), silver in the 25m freestyle (class 6) and bronze in the 25m backstroke (class 7).

Ruairidh Craynor won a gold medal in the 25m breaststroke (class 7) and two bronze, in the 25m backstroke (class 6) and 25m freestyle (class 5).

Courtney Clark won two bronze medals, in the 25m backstroke (class 5) and 25m breaststroke (class 7).

Zak Gallacher won two bronze medals, in the 50m backstroke and 25m freestyle (both class 2).

Aimee Hagan won two bronze medals, in the 100m backstroke (class open) and 100m freestyle (open).
