A TREASURED tradition returns to the Beacon Arts Centre this festive season as No Nonsense Productions presents A Christmas Carol; A Radio Play on Stage.
Adapted by Tony Palermo (It’s A Wonderful Life) and directed by Kevin Jannetts, this classic tale from Charles Dickens is performed as a 1950s radio broadcast. The production features radio actor characters, live sound effects and an original score.
Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim along with all of the other classic characters take to the airwaves courtesy of four BBC radio actors, played by No Nonsense favourites Felix O’Brien, Stewart Phillips, Leonna McGilligan and Ian Sommerville.
A Christmas Carol; A Radio Play on Stage was originally performed at Beacon Arts Centre in 2019, and in 2020, during the covid pandemic, was filmed at the Beacon, broadcast online and provided for free to local care homes.
Having previously produced, directed and performed in It’s A Wonderful Life (for eight years) and radio play adaptations of: Arsenic and Old Lace, Dracula, Frankenstein and Para Handy, Jannetts said he is delighted to be continuing a treasured Beacon tradition and bringing A Christmas Carol back to a live audience.
The production is being staged in association with Beacon Arts Centre and will be performed at the venue at Customhouse Quay, Greenock, on Monday 16 December, Tuesday 17 December, Wednesday 18 December and Thursday 19 December at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm show on the Thursday.
Tickets can be booked online.
