AN Inverclyde church is looking to recruit extra members of staff after securing a major funding boost.
Port Glasgow New Parish Church in Princes Street is seeking a full-time mission and outreach worker, and a part-time administrative assistant, to help further enhance its offering to people across the local community.
The new job opportunities come as part of the church’s efforts to do more to reach those under the age of 40. They were made possible after the church was successful in obtaining a grant from the Church of Scotland’s Seeds for Growth Fund.
The Rev William Boyle, minister, said: “Things are progressing, full steam ahead, at Port Glasgow New Parish Church, and we were delighted to receive funding from the Seeds for Growth initiative.
“Over the past few years, we have continued to welcome new members and our church is now open seven days a week, offering a variety of faith-based and community activities. It’s wonderful to have this opportunity to reach out to more people across Port Glasgow, especially those under the age of 40, to help them explore the Christian faith in new and appealing ways.”

The mission and outreach worker will develop the work of the church and serve the needs of the community and congregation to enhance the lives of young people and adults under 40, to deliver patterns of worship more relevant to this age group.
The applicant should have a live church connection and a deep Christian faith, and be comfortable sharing this with different groups in different situations.
Meanwhile, the administrative assistant should demonstrate a can-do attitude and a passion for working with people, and should also have a live church connection.
Sheena MacFarlane, session clerk and a worship leader at the church, said: “These new job opportunities are the latest exciting development at Port New Parish, and we are very excited to welcome new members of staff, supporting the work of Rev William Boyle.
“We encourage anyone interested to get in touch, and look forward to this exciting new chapter, generously supported by the Seeds for Growth Fund.”
