Inverclyde Now Logo SWIMMING — Port Glasgow Otters In Action At Scottish Championships

FIVE members of Port Glasgow Otters swim team travelled to Grangemouth Sports Complex as part of the West of Scotland Swim Team to participate in the Scottish Disability Sport National Senior Open Swimming Championships.

It was a tough competition with six regional teams competing but the Otters returned with a total of nine medals – three gold, four silver and silver bronze.

Lottie Barry attended the competition as a junior guest swimmer. She had four fantastic swims, gaining new personal best times.

Isaac Dunning won a gold medal in the 50m butterfly (class 2), two silvers in the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke (both class 1) and two bronze in the 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle.

Richard Browning won silver in the 100m freestyle.

Mollie Rowles won gold in the 25m breaststroke (class 6).

Eve Cushnaghan won gold in the 50m backstroke (class 3) and silver in the 100m freestyle.

The swimmers also took part in the 4 x 25m open relay mixed male/female teams with Team B winning gold and Team A securing a silver.

At the end of the competition the West of Scotland team retained the Kintore Trophy for the top team of the championship.

The club congratulates all the swimmers for their performance.
