LOTTIE Barry from Port Glasgow Otters was part of the West of Scotland swim team competing in the Scottish Disability Sport Junior Swimming Championships for Sensory Impaired and Physically Disabled Swimmers at Grangemouth.

It was a tough competition but Lottie, pictured right, had four excellent swims, gaining two gold medals in the 75-metre individual medley(class 2), 50-metre breaststroke (class 4), a silver in the 50-metre freestyle (class 3) and just missed out on a medal in the 100-metre freestyle.

Three other members from Port Glasgow Otters -– Zak Gallacher, Aimee Hagan and Ross O’Donnell — also recently competed as part of the West of Scotland swim team in the National Junior Championships for Swimmers with a Learning Disability which was held at Tollcross, Glasgow.

It was a very challenging competition but they came away with two gold medals and five personal best (PB) times.

This was Zak’s first time competing in the Nationals and he swam a fantastic 25-metre freestyle (class 9), just missing out on a medal but securing a PB.

Aimee swam well in a tough 50-metre backstroke missing out on a medal but went on to win two gold medals in the 50-metre breaststroke (class 2) and 50-metre freestyle (class 1) as well as gaining three PBs.

Ross swam in a really tough heat to qualify for the final of the 50-metre backstroke (class 2). He also just missed out on a medal but managed to secure a PB.

The club congratulates the swimmers on their achievements and for competing in the championships.
