PORT Glasgow Otters swim team took part in the Jubilee Swimming Gala at Scotstoun Leisure Centre in Glasgow.

Sixteen members of the team competed against swimmers from the 12 other clubs which were represented in the 38 events of the competition.

There was some fantastic swimming in extremely tough races and all the swimmers competed well, enjoyed a successful day and returned home with several new personal best times and an impressive tally of 16 medals –- three gold, seven silver and six bronze.

Lee Morrison, Katy Boyle, Stephen Coyle and Eve Cushnaghan all had very successful swims, just missing out on medals on this occasion.

Kian McLean won a bronze medal in the 25m beginners’ class.

Lindi Steele won a gold medal in the 25m backstroke (class 9) and a bronze medal in the 25m freestyle (class 7).

Emma Thompson won a silver medal in the 25m backstroke (class 8).

Zak Gallacher won a silver in the 25m backstroke (class 7) and a bronze medal in the 25m freestyle (class 6).

Courtney Clark won a bronze medal in the 25m backstroke (class 7).

Paige McLean won a gold medal in the 25m backstroke (class 6).

Chris Dillon won a silver medal in the 50m backstroke (class 4) and a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle (class 2).

Paula Carroll won a gold medal in the 50m backstroke (class 3) and a silver medal in the 50m freestyle (class 2).

Ross O’Donnell won a silver medal in the 50m backstroke (class 2).

Aimee Hagan won a silver medal in the 50m backstroke (class 1).

Richard Browning won a silver medal in the 400m freestyle (open).

Isaac Dunning won a bronze in the 100m backstroke (open).

There was an exciting end to the day when eight Otters competed in two freestyle 4 x 50m relay races which were run for fun.

Relay One –- Aimee Hagan, Katy Boyle, Ross O’Donnell and Stephen Coyle came first in their relay.

Relay Two -– Richard Browning, Paula Carroll, Chris Dillon and Isaac Dunning came third in their relay.
