Inverclyde Now Logo SIMON Keeps On Running To His 100th Parkrun

26 November, 2019 | Local

GREENOCK parkrun regular Simon Hutton marked his century milestone, as 107 people took part in the weekly five-kilometre event (on 16 November).

Simon completed his 100th parkrun, with all but one of his runs being at Greenock, the other being at Kirkcaldy.

There were six people doing the Esplanade course for the first time — one of them being Gavin Liddell who was running his 200th parkrun.

Perfect weather conditions helped 17 athletes to achieve new personal best times (PBs).

Two of these were earned by junior runners Jude Dolan and Erin McEleny who both run in the 11 to 14 age category. Jude knocked more than a minute off his previous best time to finish in 18:24, and Erin improved by just over half a minute (22:50). More impressively they are both now officially faster than their dads.

Other running faster were Dave Thom, Aaron McCrone, Mark Hunter, Sandra Campbell, Stuart Allan, Stewart Burns, Dannie Seddon, Andrew McGlynn, Anna McDougall, Douglas Green, Craig Gibson, Simon Duffin, Joe Ellis, Tony Day and Andrew Forbes.

First across the finish line was Paul Monaghan in a time of 16:45 equaling his personal best time. First female finisher was junior runner Ava Beaton, above, in 20:53, only seven seconds off her personal best. Many other runners were agonizingly close to their fastest times with James Sutherland also equaling his best time.
