NEARLY 100 runners, joggers and walkers were at the Esplanade on Saturday morning for the 195th edition of the Greenock parkrun five-kilometre time-trial event.

Laurie Donaldson celebrated his 100th parkrun. Laurie completed his first parkrun on 15 August 2015 and has done all 100 runs at the Greenock event. As well as completing a century of runs he has also supported parkrun as a volunteer on ten occasions in a range of tasks/roles.

Amongst the 98 athletes were 14 taking part at Greenock for the first time.

Chris Barlas was first runner back achieving a personal best (PB) time of 17:15.

Meanwhile young runner Lewis Scott was delighted with a hat-trick of PBs in three weeks. He managed to drop his time to 28:22 –- an improvement of almost four minutes. Lewis completed parkrun with his mum, Romina, and enjoyed sprinting away from her in the final dash to the finish line.

Another nine runners improved their times — Frazer Beer, Sarah Blandy, Lorna Mitchell, Heather White, Kevin McGroarty, Pat McCarn, Fraser McDougall, Deborah McKenzie and Kevin Murphy.
