Inverclyde Now Logo HALF Century Milestone For Greenock Parkrunner

GREENOCK parkrun welcomed 112 runners, joggers and walkers for the five-kilometre Esplanade event, including Michael Connelly of Kilmacolm who completed his 50th.

Michael has completed 17 parkruns at Greenock, 15 at Mount Edgcumbe in Cornwall and 11 at Linwood plus visits to other assorted parkruns including in Singapore.

Thirteen participants achieved personal best (PB) times in the good conditions. Oliver Reilly shaved another 14 seconds off his time to reach 18:14.

On his 99th parkrun, Willie Logan, dropped under 25 minutes for the first time. Alan Hatherall achieved his first PB in 18 months, cutting a precious seven seconds, reaching 22:42.

Others celebrating PBs were Kris Allen, Angus Scott, Ian Campbell, Alan McGregor, Mary Scott, James Hall, David Watt, Mairi Gillies, Elizabeth McGonigal and Gary Smith.

Greenock parkrun marks its fifth birthday bash on Saturday 18 May with a theme to coincide with the Eurovision Song Contest taking place that evening.
