Inverclyde Now Logo GREENOCK Parkrun Welcomes 47 Newcomers

DRY and calm conditions were ideal for fast times at Greenock parkrun, with 22 runners improving their times on the five-kilometre Esplanade course.

One regular Greenock runner, Lesley Clark, was delighted with her first personal best time in more than four years.

Lesley — who has done more than 180 parkruns -– started out her run as normal but after two kilometres realised she was on for a good time and really pushed onwards, with the effort paying off.

The weekly event had welcomed 186 runners to the start line at Campbell Street, including 47 first-timers, many of whom were from Bellahouston Road Runners, in Glasgow, visiting Greenock to undertake a championship race on the parkrun course.

Greenock parkrun was also delighted to be joined by a group from Bute who took on several volunteering roles in preparation for a parkrun starting on the island in the coming months.

Greenock parkrun is free and is held every Saturday at 9:30am. It is open to runners, joggers and walkers of all standards.
