GREENOCK parkrun event director Jo McGrattan celebrated completing her 150th parkrun.

For Jo it all started at Pollok parkrun in June 2010, back when it was called Glasgow parkrun.

Not a fan of the early start to get there in time for dad Graham to get his parkrun warm-up in each week, she started looking into the possibility of bringing parkrun to Greenock.

Graham was certain that it could, and should be done and, before she knew it, Greenock parkrun had become Jo’s mission.

After months of chasing funding and getting all the required boxes ticked, Jo finally got a longer lie on a Saturday when the weekly five-kilometre timed run started on The Esplanade in May 2014.

It hasn’t stopped her doing tourism though, with parkruns throughout the UK and three in Australia adding to her total of 150.

Eighty-nine people ran, jogged and walked the Greenock parkrun course on Saturday, of whom nine were first-timers and 11 recorded new personal best (PB) times.

Junior runner Ben Campbell is now so close to going under 20 minutes, with his best time now sitting at 20:03.

Ross Cuffe continued his streak of PBs, taking his time down to 23:12, and Sarah Blandy earned her first PB since May, with her best time now 31:14.

Gary Allan, David Breslin, David Starrett, Sandra Campbell, David Wallace, Jaclyn Livingstone, Emma Quigg and Richie Currie all improved as well.
