A FIELD of 91 players competed in the annual Seniors’ Open at Gourock Golf Club.

There was a good representation of golfers from other clubs including a visitor from Australia who opted to join the club at the end of his round.

The competition is split into three sections based on age and the winners all carded a net score of two under par 71. They were visitor Craig Kelly and home players Jimmy Anderson and David Marshall.

Novelty prizes were on offer for nearest-to-the-pin at the three par-three holes and these were won by home players Jim McNee, Hugh Doak and Charles Sweeney.

The scratch prize was snapped up by Jim Galloway, visiting from the Carrick Golf Club, who went round in one over par 74 with an equal split of 37 and 37 including three birdies at holes five,14 and 17.

The net prize was won by Gordon Crae who managed to put his match and handicap convener duties to the back of his mind for four hours and return a tremendous score of net 68 including a level par back nine of 37 where Gordon managed to offset back-to-back bogeys at 11 and 12 with birdies at 10 and 15.

The club ran a charity raffle in aid of Prostate Cancer, raising £414.50.

Gourock Golf Club thank Robscot Builders Ltd for once again sponsoring this event.
