THE long-established Gillen Trophy was recently held at Gourock Golf club with a full quota of 147 members and visitors taking part.

In a very competitive field, three local members — Steven Higgins, Paul Carroll and Matthew Chamberlain tied on a one-over-par scratch score of 74 with Stephen winning the trophy based on the better score over the last six holes over which he broke par by one stroke.

Paul had scored a superb one-under-par 35 on the front nine but dropped two strokes on the inward half.

In the handicap section, Stephen Arthur shot a magnificent 87, less 20, for a winning net 67 just pipping John McPaul, John Hampsey and Paul Carroll who all shot an impressive net 68.

All at Gourock Golf Club are indebted to the directors and management of Green Oak Funeral Services for their sponsorship of the Gillen Trophy.
