Inverclyde Now Logo GOLF — Hole-In-One For Whinhill Junior Champion

4 October, 2018 | Local

WHINHILL Golf Club Junior champion Aaron McCue scored his first ever hole-in-one while playing in a gents’ medal competition over the summer.

Aaron’s achievement was even more amazing given his ace came at the par-four 13th hole, named Sheugh, giving him an albatross, while using a hybrid club.

It’s the first hole-in-one recorded by a Junior member since Adam Henderson’s ace at the 17th hole in May 2012.

The achievement is just one of many that Aaron has had in the 2018 season. He won the club’s Junior Championship for a second year in a row, got to the final of the Whinhill Golf Club Championship and competed in various prestigous County and National Junior competitions.

He has also represented the Renfrewshire boys’ county team in this year’s West of Scotland inter-counties league and finished second in the Renfrewshire Golf Union Junior Under-18 Order of Merit event.

Holes-in-one are not a regular occurence at Whinhill Golf Club, which may be down to the tough par-threes) however John Cassidy had one at the 15th hole in July and former Junior champion Ross Pearson scored one on the same hole in September.
