The Under-13s Girls hosted Dumbarton and started well going 1-0 up thanks to Ellie Anderson slotting home from a Roma Kelly corner.

Mhairi and Erin worked very hard to limit the opposition chances and Ellie Anderson also helped out in defence and was excellent at tracking back. The girls had a host of chances and eventually Cassie got the second of the night. At half-time Juniors were 2-0 up.

Casey Leigh was unlucky to hurt her knee. Beth came on for Julie. This was Beth’s first time with the 13s, and she did very well and was unfortunate not to score.

In the second half, Dumbarton came right back in to it, scoring early after kick-off and again around 15 minutes into the second half. Dumbarton were through on goal but excellent defending from Neaveh Carr saw the ball go out for a corner.

Julie came back on for Beth and worked hard on the right. A great pass again from Roma set up Ellie Anderson for her second goal, to put Juniors ahead again. Roma was excellent attacking on the left and put in a great shift.

With around five minutes left, Cassie also got her second, through a long ball from the keeper. It was end-to-end stuff with both teams playing decent attacking football. Darcy came on in the dying minutes to help tighten the defence. The girls claimed a hard-earned three points.

Final score — Juniors 4-2 Dumbarton

Scorers — Ellie Anderson (2), Cassie McKay (2)

Referee’s player of the match — Cassie McKay
