THE deadline for making nominations for the 2017 Inverclyde Sports Personality Awards has been extended to 15 January 2018.

On behalf of the organisers, Chris Jewell said: “The 2017 awards event has been brought forward from May to 9 March which means that the timing for nominations is in the Christmas period with everything else that is going on.

“We have already had a number of nominations but want to give everyone the chance to put forward their local sporting heroes so we encourage more nominations, which can be made by anyone.”

The nine categories are Inverclyde Senior Sports Personality of the Year, Junior Sports Personality of the Year, Disabled Sports Personality of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Team of the Year, School Team of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year (up to age 25) and Adult Volunteer of the Year. The 2017 awards are organised by West College Scotland, Inverclyde Council through Active Schools, Inverclyde Leisure, New Horizons Marketing, and sportscotland with help from 8digital.

Anyone, whether a club, official or individual can nominate in any and all of the nine categories online on the awards website www.inverclydesportspersonality.com.

Nomination forms are also be available in the Oak Mall Shopping Centre and at all Inverclyde Leisure facilities.
