INVERCLYDE host an early season top-of-the-table clash on Saturday when they meet Vale of Leven at Gourock Park.

Vale have started with two impressive victories over Kirkstyle and Gatehouse, while Inverclyde also sit on 100 per cent courtesy of Bute’s concession last weekend.

Vale have a strong batting line-up and, unfortunately, Inverclyde bowlers Gareth James and Craig Watson are unavailable. Captain Dave Cooke will look to the experienced Paul Singh and Tom Watson to restrict the visitors.

The following players should report to Gourock Park by 11.30am prompt for a noon start: Dave Cooke, Ross Blair, Stuart Callison, Douglas Pilkington, Tom McDade, Cammy Gunn, Alastair Johnstone, Chris Dick, David Thomson, Paul Singh, Tom Watson, David Mudie

The game is in doubt after recent rain has left the outfield particularly damp but there is a possibility that the game will be played on the artificial wicket.

Inverclyde’s junior team travels to play Helensburgh in a friendly fixture on Friday evening, leaving from Gourock Park at 5.15pm.

Outdoor practices continue at Gourock Park on Tuesdays for juniors from 6 to 8pm, and on Thursdays for seniors from 6.30 to 8pm
