Inverclyde Now Logo CRICKET — Inverclyde Pre-Season Training Starting

INVERCLYDE Cricket Club’s senior indoor pre-season sessions start on Sunday (18 February).

They are for those aged 14 and over and take place from 10am to noon at the cricket training facility at St Columba’s High School, Fletcher Avenue, Gourock. Newcomers are welcome.

Junior coaching sessions will continue to be held at St Columba’s High from 10am to noon on Saturdays and are open to anyone up to age 14.

All cricket equipment for juniors and seniors is provided by the club. Training sessions and coaching are provided free of charge.

Inverclyde are again planning to run an Under-14 team in the Western District Cricket Union (WDCU) junior league.

After league reconstruction, the senior team will be playing this year in WDCU Division Four.

Following a successful 2017 season, Inverclyde’s Gareth James was again awarded the Division Three Bowler of the Year Award, taking 13 wickets in the rain-affected season.

Douglas Pilkington just missed out on the top batting award with a league average of 92.0, and captain Dave Cooke was second in the fielding awards with seven catches, with Stewart Blair, David Bruce and Paul Singh also featuring in the top 10.
