Inverclyde Now Logo CRICKET — First Competitive Weekend Rained Off

29 April, 2019 | Local

LAST week’s fine weather was quickly a distant memory as the new cricket season was welcomed in by persistent rain.

Neither the Greenock 1st XI nor the Glenpark XI were able to play their first competitive games.

The latter did not even travel to their game against Glasgow South as it was called off mid-morning.

Around lunch-time there was every hope that some play would be possible for the 1st XI at Glenpark against East Kilbride. However, the propsect was quickly dashed as rain set in during the afternoon.

Only one Premier Division match survived the weather. Uddingston defeated near neighbours Drumpellier convincingly in their match which was played at Bothwell.
