SCOTT Hannaway and Harris Morrison Glenpark Harriers competed in the Yuletide Indoor meeting at the Emirates Indoor Arena in Glasgow.

They were sporting the club’s new special edition 125 vest, made specifically for the 125th year of the Harriers.

Scott, left, was up first, contesting the fastest 60-metre race. After a solid start, he moved into the maintaining-speed-mode and matched some of the fastest Scottish athletes to record a time less than half a second off his lifetime best.

In the final event of the day, Scott took to the line for the 200 metres and was quickly out of the blocks before cruising onto the back straight. A drive around the final bend had two athletes stride for stride with Scott, who was holding form well only to be edged out by a close examination of the photo finish to claim silver position.

Harris competed in the 800 metres, returning to the four-lap event for the first time in six months. With a controlled first 400 metres, Harris began moving through the field and chasing the leader who had opened up a sizeable gap.

With 300 metres to go, Harris moved through his gears and, on hitting the bell for the final 200 metres, was in full flow, decreasing the gap on the leader. As both athletes crossed the finish line, it again fell to officials to award another silver spot to the young Harrier.

Both athletes now look ahead to the New Year sprint event in Edinburgh on New Year’s Day.
