SIXTY-Four Houses And Flats Agreed For Three Inverclyde Sites

THREE residential developments, made up of a total of 64 houses and flats, have been given the go-ahead by Inverclyde Council planners.

Housing association Sanctuary Group have been given permission to build 44 flats on the site of the former Highlanders' Academy in Greenock.

There will be two four-storey blocks containing a mixture of one and two-bedroom properties at the site in Mount Pleasant Street.

A design statement submitted with the application stated: "The proposed development will be stepped to create three main levels -- an upper level which relates to the existing street level at Dempster Street; a lower level which relates to the existing levels on Wellington Street and a mid level parking court area, which will be accessible from Mount Pleasant Street."

Sanctuary have also been give approval to build eight terraced houses on the former Barmoss Nursery site in Auchenbothie Road, Port Glasgow.

Finally, housing association River Clyde Homes have been given the go-ahead for 12 houses at Cuillins Avenue, Port Glasgow.

The properties will be constructed following demolition of the five-storey block of flats at 13-31 Cuillins Avenue.
