UPDATE From Greenock And District Scouts

32nd Cubs Learn About Food

Over the past four weeks, 48 members of the 32nd group have been attending classes on growing their own food, courtesy of the Inverclyde Community Development Trust.

The young Beavers, Cubs and Scouts visited a herb garden, then made their own indoor herb box to take home.

Many in the group have reported that already their families are using some of the herbs in home cooking.

The group thank to Ross, Donald, Andy and Lisa for their support with this.

Tidy-Up Time For 1st Gourock Beavers

The 1st Gourock Beavers were at Lunderston Bay tidying up the beach. The sun shone and the Beavers worked hard.

32nd Beavers Have Sleepover At Everton

Eighteen Beaver Scouts from the 32nd Colony spent one night away at Everton lodge, near Inverkip, last weekend, enjoying the spring sunshine.

Lots of activities took place and gifts for Mother’s Day were made with the assistance of the young leaders.

The Beavers also went on a morning hike on the forestry track above the road and had a camp fire and Scout’s Own service, where some badges were presented.

Organisers are grateful to the Beaver team, Northface Explorer Scout Unit and young leaders.

While all of this was taking place, 20 Scouts from the 32nd Troop hiked across the moors to Everton camp arriving about midnight and camped overnight, before tucking into a hearty breakfast.

85th Blown Away At Whitelee

The 85th visited one of Europe's largest wind farms at Whitelee on Eaglesham Moor.

The trip followed a visit to Hunterston Power Station in February and will add fuel to a debate they are having around the different types of energy.

As an added bonus, the Troop took their mountain bikes with them and spent their afternoon cycling around the wind farm.

Some arrived home and were straight back out again to finish off their Swimming Badge at the Waterfront Pool in Greenock.

33rd Beavers and Cubs’ Sponsored Walk

The 33rd Beavers and Cubs section did a sponsored walk to raise funds for upcoming events.

They all managed to walk from the Battery Park to the Esplanade Cafe for a wee ice cream then back to the car park for Easter eggs as this was their last night before the Easter holidays.
