TRIBUTE Paid To Former Greenock Scout Commissioner

GREENOCK and District Scouts were saddened to hear that Alastair Cram passed away recently after a long period of illness.

Alastair was a Scout in the 70th before taking on leadership roles in that group at an early age, rising to section leader in the late 1960s and group Scout leader thereafter.

As well as leading a successful troop, Alastair played a significant part in the establishment of the present 70th HQ in Finnart Street.

Throughout Alastair's time with the 70th, camping played a significant part with summer camps at home and abroad including two trips to Denmark -- one by sea and one by air.

Alastair was also involved in training at district level and took leadership roles in national Explorer Belt trips, eventually taking on the role of District Commissioner for Greenock and District for several years before moving to Glasgow.
