A SUSPECTED shoplifter allegedly assaulted staff who intercepted her at a Greenock store.

Police were called to Home Bargains at the Waterfront retail park around 4.30pm yesterday after workers were allegedly punched and kicked.

A 36-year-old woman was charged with theft and assault and held in custody to appear at court.
