POLICE are trying to trace an attacker who allegedly hit a man with a rock in Greenock.
The suspect was initially restrained by those at the scene but managed to break free before officers arrived.
The incident happened within a car park at Nicolson street on Friday around 1:10pm.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: "Enquiries continue to gather evidence and trace the suspect."
Anyone with information that could help police with the inquiry is urged to call 101 quoting incident 1836.
Meanwhile, a man was allegedly head-butted on Dalrymple Street, Greenock, around 1.30am on Saturday.
A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault and is expected to appear at court at a later date.
