Police at Kelburn Terrace this morning

DETECTIVES have issued an appeal for information from the public following the death of a woman in Port Glasgow on Friday.

Police were called around 1.15pm on Friday (9 June) to a flat in Kelburn Terrace where the body of 47-year-old Karen Young of Kilmacolm had been discovered. She had last been seen by her son at her home address around 3.15pm on Thursday (8 June).

A post mortem examination was carried out and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Detective Inspector Grant Macleod from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Teams said: “Extensive enquiries are underway to establish Karen’s movements between when she was last seen by her son and when she was found dead on Friday afternoon.

“Officers have also managed to establish that a woman, quite possibly Karen, was seen entering the flat in Kelburn Terrace around 8.30 on Friday morning.

“It is absolutely imperative that we account for Karen’s movements leading up to her death, and members of the local community could prove vital in providing answers for her family."
