MAN Assaulted Twice By Same Attacker In Greenock

DETECTIVES have appealed for witnesses after another weekend attack in Inverclyde -- the fifth alleged serious assault in the district in less than three days.

A 40-year-old man was set upon twice by a man with a bladed weapon in Greenock on Sunday around 10.20pm.

The victim was initially confronted and assaulted in Arthur Street. He managed to get away but was followed and attacked again in John Street.

He was able to make his way to the nearby ambulance depot where paramedics tended to his injuries and took him to Inverclyde Royal Hospital.

He suffered arm and facial injuries and has been detained for surgery.

Police say the suspect may have been a slim man in dark clothing and have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 101.
