ST John's Church in Gourock is organising a launch event to promote its heritage project and tower repair works which are to get underway soon.
It will be church and community focused and will be held at the church in Bath Street on Saturday 22 June, from 10am to noon.
The church is encouraging members, adherents and the wider community to support this event and also to become involved in the volunteering opportunities which its heritage project creates.
The event will be led by the church's assistant session clerk Alan Aitken and the church's newly appointed heritage co-ordinator Kay Clark.
Mr Aitken and Ms Clark will provide a brief overview of the history of St John’s, and will give an update on the initiative including the timeline and proposed activities.
This event will include an appeal for volunteers to join a research team, for tour guide training, digital participation and oral history training, while there will also be a short stained glass art presentation.
The church is also appealing for attendees to bring along any photographs they have of St John’s down through the years for its research. Copies will be made on the day and returned immediately.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
