BUSINESSES Can Hear About Inverclyde Regeneration Plans

INVERCLYDE'S business community can hear about regeneration initiatives across the district at a presentation being held immediately before Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce's Christmas lunch at Gourock Golf Club on Friday 15 December.

The free event takes place between 11am and noon with speaker Scott Allan, Inverclyde Council's corporate director for environment, regeneration and resources,

He will cover town development plans including Port Glasgow, where the new direct access from the Tesco roundabout and associated landscaping is nearing completion.  Port Glasgow Regeneration Forum is also considering plans for the urban realm in locations such as Princes Street and the future of the George VI building. More than £1.25million of funding is in place and further bids are in the pipeline.

In Greenock, the Regeneration Forum is progressing an ambitious urban realm project for West Blackhall Street and Cathcart Square. In addition, connectivity is to be improved to the location for the new Ocean Terminal project, which involves a new cruise ship floating pontoon sited to the east of the current container quay. Shore side, a landmark building is proposed encompassing arrival/departure facilities for cruise ship passengers, a permanent exhibition for the George Wyllie art collection and a top-floor restaurant.

Delivery of the projects aims to boost economic activity through both business and tourism and help raise the profile of Inverclyde.

Places for the presentation can be booked via Inverclyde Chamber’s website events page
