ALLOTMENT Project Hopes To Bag A Good Crop Of Votes

WELLINGTON Allotments in Greenock along with the 32nd Scout Group have been shortlisted for a Tesco Bags of Help Grant.

The Allotments and Scouts project is Raising Young Growers which aims to build raised beds in the allotment for young people to grow produce, connect with the environment and find out where food comes from.

They will receive between £1000 and £5000 depending on how many votes they get from Tesco shoppers

Customers can vote by asking at the checkout for a token for Bags of Help to post in the glass-fronted box just inside the store entrance area.

Alison Duncan, secretary of Wellington Allotment Gardens Association, said: "We hope Inverclyde folk who shop at Tesco will support us."
