HELENSBURGH lifeboat was launched just after 3.15 on Sunday afternoon to a 38-feet yacht that had gone aground in the Clyde off Greenock. No damage had been done to the hull and the lifeboat crew advised the yacht's crew how to navigate back into deeper water once the tide flooded.

HELENSBURGH Lifeboat went to the aid of 24-foot motor boat that had to drop anchor near James Watt Dock, Greenock on Saturday evening because of a mooring line round its propeller. The lifeboat crew was able to free the prop allowing the cruiser to continue.

THE next World Ship Society Firth of Clyde branch meeting is on Thursday (16 February) at 7.30pm in Cedars School,  31 Ardgowan Square, Greenock, when Iain McGeachy will give an illustrated talk entitled Round the North Sea. New members are welcome.
