EMPLOYERS and prospective employees were brought together for the latest Inverclyde jobs fair, with more than 400 people in attendance.

The event at Greenock Town Hall was organised by Inverclyde Council in partnership with Greenock Job Centre and Skills Development Scotland.

There were 420 attendees looking to find out more about employment opportunities with a variety of local, national, and international organisations spanning the public, private, and third sectors.

Local companies Dales Marine and James Walker, as well as national organisations like Police Scotland and tech giants Google were among the employers in attendance.

There were also representatives from council and health and social care partnership (HSCP) services to discuss the variety of roles on offer within their teams.

Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council’s convener of environment and regeneration, said: “We have a talented and skilled workforce here in Inverclyde and a variety of organisations from near and far who are actively recruiting so the jobs fair is the ideal way to bring employers and prospective employees under the one roof to discuss work opportunities.

“Whether people are looking to get back into work or seeking new opportunities, the event provides a platform to speak directly with hiring managers about what’s on offer and also get useful hints and tips from experts to help with applying for jobs and preparing for interviews.

“This was the fourth Inverclyde Jobs Fair and congratulations to the council’s employability service and partners on another successful event aimed at helping our residents find work and supporting businesses with recruiting new talent.”

The jobs fair ran from 10am until 12.30pm and was open to people looking for employment, self-employment opportunities or even considering a career change.

There were representatives from a variety of sectors, including construction, hospitality, security services, transport, manufacturing, care, administration, and customer service, plus As training providers and support services, including Skills Development Scotland.
