EMERGENCY services were called to a report of an assault at a property in Gourock.
A 56-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident at Davidson Drive around 1.10pm.
Police enquiries are ongoing.
Sergeant Laura Clark said: “This is believed to have been a targeted incident and there was no risk to the wider public.
“Officers remain at the scene. Anyone with concerns can speak to officers or phone police on 101.”
