INVERCLYDE Railway Line Closure Extended After Emergency Incident

18 March, 2025 | Local

NETWORK Rail has announced that all Inverclyde train services will be cancelled tomorrow (Wednesday) with lines closed for an extra day of engineering works.

A four-day shutdown of the district’s rail network started on Saturday and was due to be lifted tomorrow. Services will resume on Thursday instead

Network Rail say engineers are completing work to renew a critical junction in Port Glasgow, with a 24-hour extension to the project required following an emergency incident at the site over the weekend.

ScotRail will continue to run its replacement bus services from Paisley Gilmour Street to Gourock/Wemyss Bay.

Simon Constable, Network Rail operations director, said: “We want to thank passengers for their patience and understanding. We are working around-the-clock to finish this upgrade as quickly as possible ahead of services resuming on Thursday morning.”
