HELICOPTER Helps With Rescue Of Man From Clyde

A MAJOR rescue operation was launched after a man entered the Clyde at Langbank.

Numerous emergency crews from the coastguard, ambulance service, fire and rescue and police attended on the A8 beside the river just after 10.30pm on Saturday.

The man was rescued by the lifeboat from Helensburgh after being spotted by the crew of Police Scotland’s helicopter. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The police air support unit posted an image on social media and stated: “Police helicopter was involved in a multi-agency rescue last night when a person entered the River Clyde and got into difficulties.

“The crew was able to locate the person in the darkness.”
