INVERCLYDE residents can now apply for new garden waste permits ahead of brown bin collections resuming in March.
Permits cost £44.10, regardless of which point in the year they are purchased. Holders are entitled to 18 collections. Around 11,000 permits are purchased each year.
Collections will take place on the same day as blue bin household recycling uplifts and will start the week beginning 10 or 17 March.
Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council’s convener of environment and regeneration, said: “Our garden waste permits provide a collection from March through to November.
“It’s worth remembering the permits cost the same no matter when you buy them so it makes sense to get one as soon as possible to make the most of the collection season.”
Waste materials such as grass, hedge trimmings, weeds, leaves and shrub cuttings can all be put in brown bins and will be turned into compost. Soil cannot be recycled in the brown bin and any bins containing soil will not be emptied.
Bins without a valid 2025 permit will not be emptied.
