A NUMBER of disused buildings are to be demolished at Great Harbour, Greenock.
Nine structures, including a former mess room, workshops, stores, a compound, the gatehouse and offices are to be cleared.
Great Harbour was leased by the neighbouring James Watt Marina Ltd in 2023, with a masterplan drawn up to develop a marine trade hub.
Defence contractor Serco are continuing their operations providing commercial marine services including towage and passenger transfer from the harbour, with dedicated use of the extensive deep water berthing and the west jetty.
Marina manager Graeme Galbraith said: “Since taking over the Great Harbour site, we have identified a number of derelict and dilapidated buildings that will be demolished once all licenses and consents are in place.
“This will create a safe, clear and efficient working environment for the current operations at our Great Harbour facility.”
