A RETIRED Inverclyde minister, who also worked at IBM Greenock for many years, has passed away, following a short illness.
The Rev Hugh McConnachie, was employed by IBM for 30 years but left to train for Christian ministry, serving at Gourock Baptist Church, and Westray in the Orkney Islands, before retirement in 2019.
He died aged 83 at his home, with his family, in Straiton, Ayrshire.
In October, Hugh and wife Fiona had celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Hugh, originally from Port Glasgow, and Fiona, originally from Johnstone, met in Port Glasgow, got married in Greenock and moved to Wemyss Bay.
The couple had two daughters, Cheryl and Polly, a son, Martin, and six grandchildren.
