EMERGENCY services were dispatched to a report of a man in his 20s who was unwell in a wooded area in fields near Pladda Avenue, Port Glasgow around 9.15 on Friday. A number ambulance and police crews attended and located the man who was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital.

A SPRING and end-of-season plant sale is being held at Kilmacolm Cross, outside the library and Cargill Centre, on Saturday 22 April between 10am and noon. Entry is free and donations are welcome. Proceeds will go to Parklea Branching Out and Scotland's Gardens beneficiaries.

WESTBURN Church, Nelson Street, Greenock, holds its next Messy Church session on Saturday 11 March, 4 to 6pm in the church hall. It is free and includes tea, coffee and biscuits during the craft session and soup and sandwiches later. There will be lots of activities, songs and stories, all exploring the theme of forgiveness.

WESTBURN Parish Guild are holding a fashion show featuring The Edinburgh Woollen Mill in Westburn church hall, Nelson Street, Greenock, on Tuesday (7 March) at 7.30pm. Entry costs £2, which includes tea and biscuits, with proceeds going to the Erskine veterans' charity. 

OLD Gourock and Ashton Parish Church are having their next Messy Church session on Sunday 12 March from 2 to 4pm in the Arran Halls, Binnie Street. The theme will be Hidden Treasure and will include the usual variety of crafts, games and Messy Kitchen.

A FREE, informal, drop-in bereavement cafe is running at Branchton Community Centre, Greenock, in partnership with Compassionate Inverclyde, on Wednesday mornings from 10.45 to noon. People are welcome to go in and have a coffee and a bit of company.
