DETECTIVES are investigating after items were set on fire and put through the letterbox of a Greenock town centre flat.
The incident happened in Buccleugh Street between 8 and 8.15pm yesterday (Monday).
The property’s smoke alarm activated and the 44-year-old occupier was able to put out the fire.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: “This appears to have been a targeted attack. We are keen to hear for anyone who may have seen a male in dark clothing with his hood up who was seen in the area.”
The man may have been loitering in the area, walking through a lane from Sir Michael Place, retracing his steps afterwards.
Police believe people in two cars — a dark saloon and possibly a Mini — may have seen him.
Officers can be contacted on 101.
