TELEVISION antiques expert Natasha Raskin Sharp is urging people to dig out some old artefacts and take them along to Cardwell Garden Centre’s charity valuation day.

The presenter of BBC’s Bargain Hunt will be at the centre in Cloch Road, near Gourock, on Sunday (15 October) between noon and 4pm.

Together with specialist valuers from Glasgow’s McTear’s Auctioneers, Natasha will offer valuations on art, jewellery, watches, coins, ceramics, silver and antiques of all types.

The event will raise money for good causes — the £3 charge for having two items valued by Natasha or her colleagues will be split between Ardgowan Hospice and Children in Poverty Inverclyde.

Natasha, who has also appeared on TV’s Antiques Road Trip, Flog It! and For What It’s Worth, said: “It’s amazing what people have been hoarding away for years in attics and cupboards, or even displaying in plain sight on their mantelpieces and shelves. Sometimes they’ll have something really valuable that’s been handed down over the years and has been overlooked.

“That’s what makes these public valuation days so exciting — you just never know when someone will bring a little piece of treasure to you, not realising how much it’s worth. When a high-value item is unearthed, the look on the owner’s face is, well, priceless.”

Paul Carmichael, Cardwell’s retail general manager, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to meet a well-known antiques and art expert from television. An item that’s been lying in a cupboard for years might actually be a valuable antique, and worth a small fortune. “
