Inverclyde Now Logo TRAVEL Disruption As Wintry Weather Hits

23 February, 2017 | Noticeboard

TRAVELLERS faced rush-hour disruption this morning as heavy snowfalls hit Inverclyde.

The whole McGill’s Buses network locally was initially suspended because vehicles couldn’t leave the depot in Earnhill Road, Greenock.

Services were able to start after a snowplough was called to the scene although routes on higher ground have been disrupted. Some Port Glasgow local bus services were terminating at the top of Clune Brae.

There were long traffic delays on Kilmacolm Road, Port Glasgow and on the A78 heading into Greenock and one side of Inverkip Road near Barr’s Cottage Roundabout at Rankin Park was flooded.

Strong winds were also disrupting Clyde ferry services.

Schools opened but many school buses were delayed.
