Inverclyde Now Logo PUBLIC’S Views Sought On Future Of Ardgowan Hospice Services

ARDGOWAN Hospice is looking for people living in Inverclyde communities to help shape more accessible hospice services by taking part in consultation.

Hospice care at Ardgowan has offered a traditional model of support through the in-patient unit, day hospice services and home support through the Ardgowan Community Nursing team.

Now, thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, Ardgowan Hospice is looking to transform services to ensure people living in Inverclyde can access support where and when they need it.

Ian Marshall, Ardgowan Hospice acting chief executive, said: “We have been supporting the people of Inverclyde for more than 35 years. During this time, hospice care has changed and will continue to change. I know that people may have fears about coming to the hospice and we want to help to make accessing services as easy as possible and to reduce people’s anxieties about doing so.

“Our care and support extends beyond the walls of the hospice buildings -– we currently offer support at home through our Ardgowan Community Nurse Specialist team and at two new supportive care clinics in Port Glasgow and Greenock -– and we want to reach deeper into each area of Inverclyde to make sure patients and their families get the right service at the right time for them.

“We want to ensure the services we offer are relevant and accessible and that’s why we want the public’s views to help define the services they need.”

People living in Inverclyde can take part by going along to one of the following local open forums:

— Craigend Resource Centre, Mcleod Street, Greenock, Tuesday 21 March, 2 to 4pm

— Gourock Health Centre, Wednesday 22 March 9.30 to 11.30am

— Port Glasgow Salvation Army hall, King Street, Thursday 23 March, 10am to noon

— Kilmacolm Community Centre, Tuesday 28 March 1 to 3pm

— Inverkip Community Hub, Wednesday 29 March, 6 to 8pm

People can also share their views online; by picking up a questionnaire at Your Voice, Clyde Square, Greenock, in libraries, community centres, health centres and pharmacies, the hospice at Nelson Street or ACCESS building; or by calling 01475 726380.
