Inverclyde Now Logo NEARLY 50 Groups Share In Council’s Grants Giveaway

INVERCLYDE’S Junior football teams are among groups receiving grants from Invercyde Council following decisions by councillors.

Greenock Juniors and Port Glasgow Juniors have each been awarded around £5,000 towards venue hire in the latest round of funding boosts from the authority.

Nearly 50 organisations are benefiting under the Grants To Voluntary Organisations scheme with amounts ranging from £12,000 given to REACH For Autism for its rent costs to £131.96 which St Mary’s Episcopal Church, Port Glasgow asked for to buy two soup kettles.

Greenock Art Club — £1,000 towards rent, equipment, youth awards and moving back to its original premises

Greenock Light Opera Club — £1,000 towards theatre hire for musical productions

Inverclyde Pipes and Drums — £500 towards sporrans and equipment

Inverclyde Youth Theatre — £2,000 towards theatre hire for musical productions

Riverside Youth Band — £1,000 towards buying a formal uniform

Stedfast Silver Band — £500 towards tutoring and conducting costs

Bowling Clubs

Grosvenor — £2,000 towards running costs

Lady Alice Junior Section — £1,000 towards coaching scheme costs

Port Glasgow — £2,000 towards running costs

Rankin Park — £1,500 towards running costs

Wellington Park — £1,500 towards running costs

Care Groups

Children in Poverty Inverclyde — £1,000 towards Santa’s grotto and pantomime outing

GRASP (Greenock Recovery Alcohol Support Project) — £1,000 towards running costs

Home Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde — £1,000 for administration and training

Inverclyde Out of School Care Network — £500 towards administration costs

REACH for Autism — £12,000 for rent

Community Groups

Auchmountain Glen Project — £1,000 for hall hire

Broomhill Tenants and Residents Association — £1,500 towards a summer outing and Christmas dinner for isolated/lonely residents

Cowdenknowes Residents Association — £350 towards administration costs, hall hire and Christmas social evening

Kilmacolm and Port Glasgow Agricultural Society — £1,750 towards repairing two curtain-sided trailers that provide storage for show equipment

Kilmacolm Horticultural Society — £500 to create a walkway and sensory garden at Old Kirk Manse woods 

Slaemuir Tenants and Residents Association — £1,500 towards trips to Ayr and Blair Drummond

The Church of St Mary The Virgin Port Glasgow — £131.96 for two soup kettles to assist the Clydemen Lunch Club

Woodhall Community Association — £3,000 towards a trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park, pantomime, training and admin costs

Regional Groups

Arthritis Care Greenock and District — £1,000 towards entertainment, group outing, hire of hall and equipment for activities 

Deafblind Scotland — £712 for funding towards newsletters/information requests, social interaction events and information for parents/carers

North Ayrshire Beekeepers Association (Inverclyde Pollinator Corridor Project) — £1,000 towards building a drystone cairn for a community biodiversity and wildflower garden

Parkinson’s Inverclyde Support Group — £831.25 for running costs

Groups for Older People

Port Glasgow Old Men’s Club — £500 towards travel to museums and events outwith Port Glasgow 

Women’s Initiative for Socialising, Health, Education and Skills (WISHES) — £1,000 towards tutors, hall rent and IT/admin costs 

Pre-School Groups

Inverclyde Happy Tots — £1,000 towards running costs and baby sensory classes

Kilmacolm Playgroup and Toddlers — £500 towards rental

Sports Groups

Greenock Juniors Football Club — £4,800 towards training venue costs

Inverclyde Cricket Club — £1,000 towards Growing Cricket in Inverclyde coaching sessions

Newark Angling Club — £500 to subsidise membership for juniors and those with limited resources

Paisley District Schools Football Association — £500 towards running costs

Port Glasgow Boat Club — £1,000 towards replacing perimeter security fence

Port Glasgow Juniors FC — £5,000 towards training and match venue costs

Port Victoria Boxing Club — £3,000 towards upgrade of ladies’ changing room, showers, kitchen and new boiler

St Andrew’s BC Under-21s — £500 towards running costs

Summer Playschemes

Auchmountain Community Resource Centre — £5,000 for four-week playscheme

Gibshill Community Centre — £5,000 for summer programme of activities for children and young people
