Inverclyde Now Logo MAN Suffers Head Injury In Attack

A 35-YEAR-old man was attacked as he walked on a path in the east end of Greenock.

He was struck on the head with a sharp implement by an unknown male on the route between Lady Octavia Sports Centre, Bridgend Road and Sinclair Street around 4.45pm yesterday (Sunday).

The victim needed hospital treatment, including stitches.

Detectives are treating the incident as a serious assault.

They urge anyone who was in the area at the time, such as players on the nearby football pitches, to get in touch in 101 if they saw anyone suspicious.
