Inverclyde Now Logo MAIN Road Closure In Greenock To Continue

2 August, 2017 | Noticeboard

CLOSURE of a major Greenock route has been extended.

Scottish Water say work they need longer to repair a collapsed sewer on Inverkip Road.

A stretch of the road, from Greenock Cemetery roundabout to the junction with Rankin Street, has been closed to all through traffic since 3 July and had been expected to re-open last week.

A spokesman for Scottish Water said: “Some additional work is required and, in liaison with Transport Scotland the roads authority, the road closure has been extended to 14 August.

“Scottish Water will do everything possible to complete the work before then. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank affected road users for their patience and understanding.

A local diversion route is in operation via Brachelston Street.
