Inverclyde Now Logo DRIVERS Warned Of Delays During M8 Weekend Roadworks

4 November, 2019 | Noticeboard

MOTORISTS are being warned of disruption while roadworks are carried out on the M8 near Bishopton this weekend.

Contractor Scotland TranServ will be resurfacing one kilometre of the westbound carriageway between Junctions 30 and 31.

A contraflow system will be in place between 8pm on Friday (8 November) and 6am on Monday (11 November). The Junction 30 Westbound on-slip will be closed.

Motorists are advised to allow plenty of additional time for their journeys.

Adam Sarwar, Scotland TranServ’s project lead on the scheme said: “We’ve been waiting for a suitable window to carry out this short programme of work, keeping disruption to the thousands of commuters and businesses using this route every day, to a minimum. Developers constructing the new interchange at Bishopton for Dargavel Village and associated motorway junctions have recently completed their works.

“Scotland TranServ has also been in liaison with local authorities, emergency services and other key stakeholders to carefully schedule these works out-with busy holiday periods and the peak festive shopping season.

“This is an essential programme of work that will deliver around a kilometre of new surface for this section of Scotland’s busiest motorway.”
