Inverclyde Now Logo BLOOD Pressure Checks Being Offered In Greenock

15 April, 2017 | Noticeboard

FREE blood pressure checks are on offer at an event organised by The Rotary Club of Greenock.

The tests will be available at the Your Voice office in Clyde Square, Greenock on Saturday 22 April between 10.30am and 12.30pm. The session is being run in conjunction with Stroke Matters Inverclyde and the Stroke Association.

Increased blood pressure is the single biggest risk factor for stroke and, although strokes are usually seen in people over the age of 65, anyone can be affected, including babies. High blood pressure has no symptoms and it affects millions of people in the UK.

In previous years, the Rotary sessions have uncovered people in Greenock with very high blood pressure and it has been possible to refer them to GPs for treatment before any serious effects occurred.

Doctors and nurses will be available, not only to measure blood pressure, but also to offer advice on keeping it under control and preventing the risk of stroke. The test is quick and pain free and tea/coffee and cake will also be on offer.
